5 Tips to Get Your Car Ready for Summer!
Summer is just around the corner, and at Auto Liquidators Plus we’re very excited! Sunny days, cool nights, family road trips, there’s really nothing better than summer in Texas. Here are a few helpful tips to ensure your car is prepped and ready for all the summer fun.
Tire Check
Your car’s tires are one of the most important things to prepare for summer. As the heat rises (and this is Texas, so it’s rising FAST), make sure to check your tire pressure at least once a month. The temperature change can raise and lower tire pressure, and keeping them properly inflated not only increases their lifespan, but you’ll also save money on gas!
Clean the Undercarriage
Cleaning any excess mud and grime lingering underneath your car from the spring showers will help it run cooler, which is especially important in Texas. A cool engine is an efficient engine! Summertime is road trip time for many families, so scheduling your basic maintenance at the beginning of summer is a great way to keep your car running smoothly. Oil reduces friction, hoses deliver coolant, and belts run fans: all these components work together to keep your engine cool. Be sure these are all in tip-top condition before that big family vacation and you’ll be making great summer memories in no time!
Check the Air Conditioning
We love summer in Texas, but it gets hot so make sure your AC system will be running cold. It’ll put in some hard work over the next few months, so be prepared to beat the heat with a professional AC pressure check. You’ll be glad you did when the outside temperature hits triple digits!
Make a Summer Road Trip Kit
There are a few basic supplies you can keep in your car to make sure you’re prepared for an emergency situation. We recommend you stock your car with: a gallon of water, basic maintenance tools, a first aid kit, a tire pump, jumper cables, a flashlight, and a charging cable for your phone. If you’re hitting the road with the family for vacation, we also recommend a small waste bin for snack wrappers, a deck of cards or travel games, sunglasses, blankets/pillows, and a cooler full of snacks/drinks.
